Summary

Edjejre, also known as Edward Aster, was the fourteenth Keeper of Quests, having possession of the Book of Quests from 2300 AE to 2319 AE. The book came into his possession in 2300, while Aster was in the service of the United Provinces military. After a time of using the book while still in the military, he abandoned his post so as to better document the world unimpeded.

As time went on, Edjejre became more and more bitter about the state of the world, deciding he needed to use powers obtained through the book to make it better, or at least better in his eyes rather than anyone else's. By the later 2310s, he had come to believe there was a world controlling his own, and wished to reach that world through any means necessary.

Seeking the Control Universe

During the summer of 2319 AE, the Earths of New Epic, Old Epic, and SAJ Epic went on similiar quests for Manly Steak, and attracted the attention of Edjejre. Edjejre, seeking to take control of the universe by means of entering the real world, copied Earth's fourth wall breaking abilities and Manly Steak powers, and used them back on Earth himself to enter the closest universe to his own. This resulted in a tear in the universe opening near Losenna in Banivia.

Due to the upcoming New Epic reset and changeover in a few hours, the tears in the Old Epic and New Epic universes were connected to each other, resulting in Old Epic Earth being trapped in New Epic. The tear in SAJ Epic, however, was connected to Seth's bedroom in the SAJ Real Universe due to the reset being pushed back, trapping the SAJ Earth in Sethington.

A Game Across Universes

While the Old and New Epic Edjejres were essentially out of options, being connected to the wrong universes, the SAJ Epic Edjejre just needed to get his rift open again. He quickly enlisted the aid of Epic Aaron, Epic Seth, Luffy, and Yusuke to fight him. Although they figured out his true goals and attempted to stop him outright so that he'd fail even if the rift opened, he managed to win and escaped to the SAJ Real universe.

A few hours later, he gained access to a computer and found the Epic forums, through which he came to the realization that he still wasn't in the real world. However, before he could do more, he was attacked by the Manly Trio. Using the power to open a rift anywhere by fighting people, he escaped through various universes (Encountering Hieiroth along the way), until reaching one where testing is being done on a version of a Hopestar Interdimensional Drive that, with enough power, can potentially be used to open a rift to the real world.

Stealing the Drive, Edjejre used it to go to the Chippe! Universe, where he teamed up with Rampaging Robot so he could use the robot's resources to power the drive from the SAJ Real Universe. Unfortunately for his plan, the Manly Trio and their allies had tracked him down, and as the rift to the real world was opened, they fought him to prevent his use of it.

With things looking bad for Edjejre, he activated his Infinitum Exorus, something he wished not to use due to its instability. Sure enough, as the battle raged on, his abuse of the game's code along with the damage being done to him, ended in the Exoris tearing him apart.

Old Epic Meets New Epic

One week after SAJ Epic Edjejre's death, a device he had set to activate after seven days without his input sent a message to New Epic Edjejre, the version of him closest to the real world, and therefore most likely to succeed, with instructions on how to proceed. New Epic Edjejre sent a message through the device to his Old Epic counterpart, both agreeing to gather a group to the rift's location and initiate a fight.

The next day, the pair each gathered a group, with Marianne Lavelle, Nathan Cobalt, and Rosalie-Anne Finch gathering in Old Epic, and Aaron, Elentra Arcamenel, another Luffy, and Skorax Blundergad gathering in New Epic. As with SAJ Edjejre, the New and Old Epic Edjejres are unable to fool the people they've gathered, but did get them to fight, reopening the Losennan rift.

Old Epic Edjejre crossed over to the New Epic Universe, followed by Marianne, Nathan, and Rosalie. Elentra manages to burn the edge of the New Epic Book of Quests and outright destroy the Old Epic Book of Quests before Seth, Aaron, and Janell arrive in the New Epic Universe, where they use the Steak Sharer to temporarily give the power of Manly Steak to the people the Edjejres had gathered.

Almost immediately, Skorax killed New Epic Edjejre, and Old Epic Edjejre activated his ascension in order to stand a chance in the fight. However, it was not able to help him for long, as the instability eventually tore him apart, ending any chance of an Edjejre reaching the real world.

In the aftermath of the fight, however, the New Epic Book of Quests was overlooked by the combatants, and later that day it was taken by Ganchi Hiaba, who had just become one with the spirit of Hieiroth, and sought out the book as revenge for Hieiroth's death due to Edjejre.

Trivia

  • Dr. Aster of the Hopestar Universe was an alternate universe counterpart of Edjejre.
  • Approximately 16 Edjejres attempted to reach the real world between 30 September and 10 October 2319. About 14 of them, including SAJ Epic Edjejre, were defeated by the Manly Trio. Two were defeated by the Old and New Epic groups.
  • Edjejre's appearance is based vaugely on that of Robert Downey Jr., specifically in his role as Tony Stark in the first Iron Man film.
  • Due to his early appearance in Earth and the Keeper of Quests, which was posted the day before the New Epic reset took place, New Epic Edjejre is technically the first character hailing from the New Epic Universe to appear in Epic.
