"Consider it a gift."
—Ganchi

Ganchi Hiaba was born in 2286 to Yoshihiro and Naoko Hiaba. He grew up in Handora, where he had a fairly ordinary childhood. Ganchi didn't get direction to his life until June 2306, where a deranged man attempted to kill the then-19-year-old Ganchi. Ganchi was rescued by a 24-year-old mercenary named Cail Milons. Inspired, Ganchi started to take up mercenary work of his own in 2308, and met Cail again on a job early the next year. The two started teaming up on missions after that. Misinterpretting a suggestion of Cail's, Ganchi started a habit of warning his targets before going after them, telling them to consider his warning a gift.

In 2312, Ganchi and Cail were on a contract in Chanvierre, where they learned about Granmir the Firebringer and met Derlin Ranmesel, Sanel Vangris, and Saja Aamodt, whom they would soon form an unnamed group with. The following year, Ganchi, Cail, Saja, and Sanel encountered a man named Parus Vandir, leader of most of the last few dozen living Orkans. After they interfered in his plans, he beat them badly with the red Laquir in his posession, warning them to stay out of his way. The group would encounter Parus and his followers on occasion over the next few years, but he wouldn't have much of a presence until the next decade.

In late 2314, the group (now also joined by Omorius Dalziel and Mors) fought Granmir the Firebringer in Eisenstaat, where they learned he'd obtained Parus' Laquir. A few months later, Ganchi and Cail took on a killer named Tanya Rindel, after which Ganchi started to note his disappointment with the lack of recognition in their line of work. Later that year, Ganchi and Sanel tracked a number of Parus' followers who had located ancient Orkan ruins that could track the Laquiri. Ganchi and Sanel dealt with them and destroyed the ruins, rescuing Falraan Kinsel in the process, who memorized the tracking enchantment instructions in the ruins.

In 2316, the group once again fights Granmir, this time in Handora. They best him, but the Laquir goes missing. Ganchi, Sanel, and Saja go to see Falraan to see if she can recreate the enchantment to track it, but she says she only partially knows the instructions, and that she needs the pre-made enchantment circle to begin with for it to work. They decide to let it go and drop the issue. By late 2318, the group had mostly split apart, although Ganchi, Cail, and Omorius all signed up for The August Games. Ganchi went up against Tony Hawk in the semi-finals and won, becoming the New Epic Universe's version of the Hawk-Killer. However, to his disappointment, the other Finalist, Kasch Blackwood, never showed up, and he won the tournament without actually winning. It was a hollow victory for him.

Shortly before the Two Year Gap in October 2319, Ganchi confronted a lich named Manadur who was killing people by making them explode to steal their energy. He wanted to get legitimate reknown from this, but it only resulted in Manadur killing him in the same way he had killed the others. Ganchi awoke in The Void, where he met Hiei. Hiei offered to restore him to life on the condition that he could share Ganchi's body. Ganchi eventually accepted...

The history for Ganchi Hiaba splits off following his merger with Hiei to three different pages, depending on the timeline you're following. While their histories are mostly the same for a few years, the articles have been split here to prevent confusion that may otherwise arise.
