Overview

The Blacksmithing skill enables you to craft or improve your own items. Blacksmithing is used to create or improve weapons and armor, along with Accessories. Be aware that firearms and energy weapons do not fall under the domain of blacksmithing. A full list of which weapons do not fall under the domain of Blacksmithing can be found on the weapon list.

In order to perform an act of blacksmithing, you must have the required reagents. To determine success, roll a 1d100 and add your Blacksmithing skill plus any modifiers. Compare this against the target number for what you're attempting to do. If you meet or exceed the target number, then you succeed. Here is a list of target numbers:

Create a piece of armor: 110

Create a one-handed weapon: 110
Create a two-handed weapon: 115

Create a Rank B Accessory: 125
Create a Rank A Accessory: 130

Improve an item: 80
Item breakdown: 60

You may also choose to improve a given item by more levels at a time, combining all the upgrades into one dice roll and spending less time. Be aware that if a combined roll fails, all reagents are lost.

Rebuilding Equipment

Blacksmithing can also completely change a piece of equipment to another of its type (As in, a weapon to a weapon or an accessory to an accessory, not a weapon to accessory) through a rebuilding process. If changing between craft types, such as between a sword and a gun, they must work with a Gunsmith or Enchanter, whichever applies to the other weapon type.

For full information, see the article on Rebuilding Equipment.

The Blacksmithing Plus

The + in Blacksmithing raises your blacksmithing rolls by 25, and grants you the ability to refit Rare equipment. This allows you to roll its effects over again, replacing its current effects with the new randomly generated effects. Specifications are below:

  • Weapon Refit: Coal x1, Diamond x3, Steel x3
  • Armor Refit: Coal x1, Diamond x3, Leather x3
