The Olympiad is a major event held on Disparatus once every five years. Within it, a great number of athletes from across the planet come together to participate in various competitions for the honor and glory of both themselves and the nation they represent. These competitions include such events as track running, archery, boxing, gymnastics, tic-tac-toe, and of course the ever-popular fighting tournament.

The event has always been held in one of the seven major countries of Disparatus, although being held elsewhere is allowed as long as the host nation is an Olympiad participant. It usually occurs in the spring, although this is changed on occasion depending on the location, often being pushed to the summer months when held in the far northern country of Ostfold. Although the tournament has never been held on Earth, regulations established in the Treaty of Svaneholm in 2137 AE permitted competitors from Earth to begin competing in the games in the 79th Olympiad, held the very next year.

Rules regarding the host nation of the Olympiad state that no one nation may host the Olympiad twice within a span of five consecutive Olympiads, or a span of 21 years, whichever happens first. Additionally, out of the seven major nations of Disparatus (six prior to an amendment to the Olympiad Charter in 1857 AE adding Ostfold to the list of major nations), each must hold an Olympiad no more than 10 consecutive Olympiads or 51 years after its previous time hosting the Olympiad, whichever happens first, unless the nation in question voluntarily excludes itself from hosting. By these rules, whenever a new Olympiad is held, the choice is always between the three nations which have not hosted it in the preceding four Olympiads.

The first Olympiad was held in 1748 AE, with the most recent being the 117th Olympiad, held in 2328 AE.

The 118th Olympiad will be held in 2333 AE. The potential host nations will be Alibaas, Handora, and Dragonoa. According to Olympiad regulations, Alibaas must be permitted to host either the 118th or 119th Olympiad, unless it willingly abstains from hosting.
