The August Games
The August Games were a fighting tournament held from 24 to 26 October 2318 in Old Epic. They were highly popular, with the DVD collection of the tournament being a popular purchase for the next year.
The full-sized version of the tournament bracket can be found here.
An alternate version happened in New Epic, viewable here. The New Epic version was not actually held in the game itself, as Epic was still set in Old Epic at the time. However, the differences are notable for lore.

Preliminaries (1 to 5)
Marianne Lavelle vs. Tony Hawk
Winner: Marianne
After a flashy entrance by The Hawk, the match begins as he performs a kickflip. Marianne stands in silence for a minute before making a paper chain. Hawk wheels down the half pipe and performs another kickflip, before Nightmare Flipping down onto Marianne's head. As Hawk goes to pull off more tricks, Marianne gets up unharmed and makes paper walls form around him. They then slice apart, tearing at his skin as he weaves around the paper. He returns to the half pipe to build momentum before slamming Marianne into the sky and hitting her with The 900 as she soars.
The Hawk started to walk away, thinking he'd won, but Marianne picks herself back up and sent more paper after him. Hawk tries to slam into Marianne again in retaliation, but Marianne dodges and the Hawk slams into the ground. She makes a duplicate Paper Hawk, which performs The 900 on Hawk himself, tearing him apart. Marianne is declared the winner and given the title of Hawk-Killer.
Leon Dorvay vs. Herk Tertaga Herk
Winner: Leon
Then-unknown Tertaga Herk Herk impersonator Herk Tertaga Herk started off the match by singing so painfully that the entire arena caught fire. Leon retaliated by delivering a four slash combination of stabbing and impaling Herk with his weapons. Herk pushes him off by bashing Leon with his skull. Leon slashes at him some more as he sings about the ghetto, setting Leon once more on fire. Leon puts the fire out and shoves his blades through Herk's chest, defeating the fake.
Albrun vs. Francois
Winner: Albrun
Albrun ran at the overly patriotic Frenchman and cut at him, causing Francois to put up a feeble defense out of fear. Declaring to show her France's might, he brings down his wooden sword on her head. This fails miserably, as the sword breaks in two. Out of other options, he punches her in the face instead. Albrun responded by using Fly on him, except with a blade pointed at his face. It strikes him in the throat and he's decapitated.
Kasch Blackwood vs. Annelise Edith
Winner: Kasch
Being sexist and thinking women shouldn't be warriors, Kasch refused to fight Auria's lovely mother at first. Finding this amusing, she punches him in the face with love. He kneed her in the chest to drive her off and then pointed his blade at her head, requesting that she forfeit, as he did not want to have to hurt a woman. She tells him that he should forfeit to her instead, so he cuts her up. Annelise finds herself horrified that he hasn't given up and strikes him with another series of sexy punches. During this, he manages to impale her, clearly killing her.
Jophiel vs. Iron Lung Khranis
Winner: Jophiel
The poorly made Khranis clone wobbled over to Jophiel and attempted to tackle her, but the weight of the iron lung ends up breaking his legs as he tried. It's at this moment that the crowd realizes both that a lot of the fighters in this tournament suck, and that even Francois could beat Khranis easily. Khranis continues to roll around in pain. Jophiel is mildly annoyed by this and whips him with her belts. He tries to fight back, but shatters both of his arms. Jophiel then cut off one of them. With a belt slash. He flatlines, and Jophiel wins.
Unheld Preliminaries (6 to 8)
These three Preliminary matches were not held, as each had a competitor who did not show up before the start of the Quarter-Finals.
Riyouki vs. Alfred
Winner: Alfred (By Disqualification)
Gin vs. Seth the Retarded Investor
Winner: Seth the Retarded Investor (By Disqualification)
Michael vs. Little Girl
Winner: Little Girl (By Disqualification)
Quarter-Finals
Albrun vs. Little Girl
Winner: Albrun
Albrun started off by slashing at the girl with her blade. The girl died instantly.
Jophiel vs. Alfred
Winner: Jophiel
Fan-favourite Alfred began the fight with his famed Alfred Shot technique, consisting of shooting his gun. However, he forgot to load it before the match and instead just punched Jophiel's face with his skull. She hits him away with her belt, which somehow manages to poison the hotshot. He unleashes an Alfred Kick on her, spinning through the air and slamming her face with his foot. Jophiel whips him hard with her belt once more, somehow breaking his neck with it and killing him.
Marianne Lavelle vs. Seth the Retarded Investor
Winner: Marianne
Marianne spaces out for a minute or so while Seth checks his stocks, before sending giant pieces of paper to shred him apart. Seth pulls a giant fax machine out of his briefcase and hurled it at Marianne. She sends more deadly paper at him, which he swats off with his shoe. Marianne then ties him down with paper chains, killing his health insurance rate. More giant paper tears at him, breaking the chains.
The guy hits her again with the fax machine and informs her that her loan's interest rate went up. This physically harmed her. Worried, Marianne sent more paper at him, taking him down. Someone from the stands then yells down to Seth that INT-TEL went down by 3000% when the market closed. Horrified, Seth then bashed his own skull in with the oversized fax machine. As the only one left, Marianne is declared the winner.
Leon Dorvay vs. Kasch Blackwood
Winner: Kasch
Leon and Kasch readied their weapons, Kasch's still soaked in Annelise's blood, with Leon making the first move by lunging and driving his sword into Kasch's forearm while slashing with his dagger. Kasch counterattacked during the struggle, pushing Leon back and driving a strong vertical slash down his front, then thrusting it into Leon's side, twisting it, and delivering another set of sword thrusts.
Kasch takes a few steps back and Leon lunges again, with both fighters driving their blades into each other. They back away and remove their swords from each other. Both barely able to even stand, it's Leon whose legs give out first, collapsing to the arena floor, giving the win to Kasch. Hardly able to even carry his weapon, Kasch stumbles out of the arena and promptly passes out.
Semi-Finals
Jophiel vs. Marianne
Winner: Marianne (By Forfeit)
The fighters enter the arena as Marianne ponders platypi. Jophiel quickly began flapping her wings and striking with her whip. Marianne finds an opening and folds some paper to send at her opponent, but only one hits its mark, summoning the giant paper to tear at Jophiel. Jophiel flapped her wings a few more times before inexplicably forfeitting the match.
Albrun vs. Kasch
Winner: Kasch
Kasch stares down Albrun and, as with Annelise, requests that she forfeits. Albrun refuses, preferring to fight the match as intended. They draw their weapons, Albrun flying into the sky and coming down to try and impale Kasch, but he moves quickly enough so that it only slices through his side. He stepped back and then counterattacked, thrusting his blade at her a number of times. His strikes hit as intending, causing her to crumple to the ground, defeated.
Final Round
Marianne Lavelle vs. Kasch Blackwood
Winner: Marianne (By Disqualification)
In a shocking twist, Kasch Blackwood did not show up for the final round, as he had left for Earth to obtain a legendary sword. Therefore, after much deliberation by those hosting the tournament, the win was awarded to Marianne Lavelle.
