Robots

Robots are constructed beings created through Engineering often programmed to perform specific tasks, or imitate sentient behavior. In Epic, robots work much like Personal NPCs, but come with a unique set of usable traits, and only two slots. You can only have one robot at a time, but you can have both a robot and a Personal NPC.

  • It takes 100 ENG to construct a robot.
  • Like Androids, robots fall under the jurisdictions of Asimov's laws. However, less intelligent robots can be legally permitted to harm human beings if they're licensed as a weapon.
  • Unlike Personal NPCs, robots are not considered to have any skill points that they can use defensively.

Name (Robot): Description
Slot 1:
Slot 2:
Reagent Cost: Titanium x 5, Cables x 5, Insulation x 5, Silicon x 10, Power Cell L2 x 2, Power Cell L1 x 2, Coolant x 2

  • With the Engineering Plus, a robot can be constructed with 3 slots instead of the usual 2.

Robot Traits

  • Repair-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is capable of fixing other mechanical things, as long as it has the materials. Is considered to have 50 ENG for repair checks.
  • Bug-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is about the size of a wasp, and is capable of flight, making it able to fly into small, and hard to get to places. Is considered to have 25 STL due to its small size. Does not stack with Wall-bot or Fish-bot.
  • Spy-bot - Visual (Robot Trait): This robot comes equipped with a camera capable of sending live and saved visual recordings to a portable display device. Saved videos have a 30 minute recorded material limit. Cannot pick up audio unless you get the audio trait alongside this.
  • Spy-bot - Audio (Robot Trait): This robot comes equipped with a microphone capable of sending live and saved audio recordings to a portable player. Saved audio has a 30 minute recorded material limit. Cannot pick up video unless you get the visual trait alongside this.
  • Butler-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is capable of polite speech, cleaning up messes after cocktail parties, and serving you food and drinks. Is considered to have 40 CHA, which it sometimes uses to help ensure its owners safety with. Though, it mostly only uses it to ensure that the current engagement stays classy and well refreshed. Cannot use the CHA battle effects.
  • Bomb-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is capable of self-destruction on order. During a battle, it can be sent up to 6 spaces away from you with a quick action, where it will then explode, dealing 100 PLM (PLM of its owner) Splash (1) damage. Once it explodes, it needs to be rebuilt with full robot creation reagents before it's usable again. This cannot stack with Sentry-bot.
  • Not-a-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is disguised to look somewhat convincingly like a real member of another species. If this species is non-sentient, then identifying it as a robot takes an AWA check of DL5. If the species is sentient, then the DL is lowered to DL4, and even lower, to DL2-3, if it speaks.
  • Speed-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is really fast. It's considered to have 50 ATH for running checks.
  • Thief-bot (Robot Trait): This robot's been programmed to take things that don't belong to it. During an RP, it has a % chance of pickpocketing from someone without being caught. If it's caught, it's okay. The robot did it. Is considered to have 25 STL for this. It can also be used to loot KOed NPCs in battle with only a quick action.
  • Wall-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is big and sturdy enough to work as a blockade in case of emergency. Can block off doors or passageways, and takes a STR check of DL 4 to move. Does not stack with Bug-bot or Fish-bot.
  • Record-bot (Robot Trait): This robot can be programmed with a set of sounds, responses, and phrases of realistic and convincing quality. However, these sounds need to be recorded ahead of time.
  • Fish-bot (Robot Trait): This robot can swim, and doesn't need to hold its breath, as it has none. Does not stack with Wall-bot or Bug-bot.
  • Sentry-bot (Robot Trait): This robot, after being deployed with a quick action, can be set to a space to attack anyone who comes within a 1-2 space area of it. If someone walks into its range, and stops there, it can use Quick Attack as a free action on your turn. It cannot move from the space you set it without you picking up with a quick action, then setting it back down with another. Has a five shot limit before it needs to be recharged with a Power Cell L2. This cannot stack with Bomb-bot.
  • Dig-bot (Robot Trait): This robot can dig and cut through materials up to the strength of thin (approx. up to 2 inches thick) steel. Cutting through materials takes about 5 minutes. The amount of time digging takes is up to GM discretion.
  • Heat-bot (Robot Trait): This robot is able to raise and lower its temperature at will, up to approx. 1000 degrees F (The average softening point of steel), and down to approx. -25 degrees F (Just above the freezing point of most fuels). For this reason, it's also able to pass through extreme temperatures without issue.
